Over the past 3 years, the RVO has sorted and regularly visits sheltered accommodation for over 10 Welsh Guards Veterans who were homeless. This sheltered accommodation is also sometimes used as a halfway house for those on release from a prison sentence.
A Veteran of the Regiment contacted the RVO for help after making a suicide attempt. It was discovered that he was sleeping in the back of his car. The RVO sorted out an en-suite room for him in local Veterans sheltered accommodation within 2 hours and visited him the next day. This Veteran was then provided with a peer mentor who assisted with counselling and a GP visit. He has since left sheltered accommodation and has started a new life for himself.
