Today, Monday 3rd August 2020, Yvonne Brown from South London reaches an unbroken 40 years of loyal and dutiful service to Regimental Headquarters Welsh Guards. Since 1980 Yvonne has worked with 8 Regimental Lieutenant Colonels, 6 Regimental Adjutants, 6 Superintending Clerks, 11 Regimental Quartermaster Sergeants and untold other members of Regimental Headquarters clerical and stores Staff.
Yvonne was joined by her husband Paul, son Leon, daughter Lovenne and grandchild Nazir at Horse Guards, where she received a commendation for meritorious service from the General Officer Commanding London District and the Major General Commanding the Household Division, Major General Chris Ghika CBE.
Not only is Yvonne’s longevity in post a record, but in all those years, that has seen the Welsh Guards deploy around the world to Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands, Bosnia and Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, Yvonne has always gone above and beyond and during these tours gladly worked very long hours to benefit those soldiers deployed, at home and abroad.
We are extremely proud of Yvonne, her loyalty, dedication, hard work and friendship.
The Regiment was delighted to be able to hold a luncheon in her honour at the Cavalry and Guards Club and looks forward to working with Yvonne for many years to come.
