1st Battalion Welsh Guards is proud to have a formal Regimental affiliation with HMS Prince of Wales, the second of the new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers.
These carriers are the biggest and most powerful surface warships ever constructed for the Royal Navy and represent a step change in capability, enabling the delivery of increased strategic effect and influence around the world. They will ultimately be used by all 3 sectors of the Armed Forces and will provide 8 acres of sovereign territory which can be deployed around the world. Both ships will be versatile enough to be used for operations ranging from supporting war efforts to providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
As part of our ongoing relationship building with the ship, Lt Ruscombe-King and LSgt Morgan 14 took part in the official HMS Prince of Wales Affiliates’ Day on 16th May.
