Earlier on this year WO2 Dan Cope was training to take on the Marathon Des Sables (MDS), but a freak accident prevented him from doing so due to injury. Having recovered from this injury, he wanted to repay all those people that had already sponsored him and he still needed a similar MDS challenge - enter the Ultra X Jordan.
Ultra X Jordan (previously the Wadi Rum Ultra) takes participants through the land of Lawrence of Arabia. The mystical course takes competitors through historic sites, into dramatic Wadis and over magnificent sand dunes. Run over 5 days and consisting of:
5 stages over 5 days with along stage of 80km (52 miles).
Self sufficient apart from water and tent.
Temperatures of 50 degrees plus.
From 7 to 11 Oct, WO2 Dan Cope ran to raise funds for the Welsh Guards Charity and for that we thank him wholeheartedly. A tremendous effort and achievement that he should be proud of.
Dan was joined on the Ultra X by 3 members of the Scots Guards who had also entered this remarkable race.
It is not too late to sponsor Dan if you are able to, just visit his Just Giving page here.
