On 7 September the Battalion was visited in Pirbright by some of the Mayors of the Freedom Towns and Cities that the Regiment are privileged to have been granted in Wales. We welcomed the Chairman of the Council of the County of Powys, the Mayor of the County Borough of Bridgend, the Mayor of the City of Bangor, the Mayor of the City of Newport, the Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil and the Mayor of Aberystwyth along with their Consorts. The aim of the day was to bring them up to date on the Regiment and the Battalion and to thank them for all the support they, and their respective Councils, give to us.
A full range of activities were laid on and a most enjoyable day was had. We remain ever grateful to them and all the other Mayors and Councils in Wales who do so much to support us.
