As Op TORAL 6 and the Welsh Guards time in Kabul draws to a close, Command of Advisor Force Protection (AFP) has been handed over from Number Two Company Welsh Guards to B Company 1 Royal Gurkha Rifles (1RGR) in Kabul. We wish them a safe and speedy tour.
Every Welsh Guardsman who deployed to Kabul as part of Op TORAL 6 is now home safely in Pirbright!
The Welsh Guards have a long history with Afghanistan, having deployed twice previously; on Op HERRICK 10 in 2009 and Op HERRICK 16 in 2012. We are proud to have played a pivotal role in the UK’s Kabul Security Force as part of Op TORAL and assisted in providing long term stability for Afghanistan.
Every single person deployed showed constant dedication to meeting the aims set by and for the Battalion and we could not be prouder of their performance.
