Supported by Style for Soldiers (S4S) and The Welsh Guards Charity, the Welsh Guards Rugby Reunion Club (WGRRC) arranged 250 free hospitality packages for the Wales V Georgia match in Cardiff on Saturday 18 November 2017.
Included in the package was pre match hospitality in the Dragon Suite at the Angel Hotel. This included an introduction to S4S by Emma Willis MBE who gave an insight into her connection to the Welsh Guards and the superb work of her charity. S4S visit Headley Court and fit out injured service personnel with bespoke clothing and, where required, walking canes. This important contribution to injured veterans welfare goes a long way to boosting confidence as they move out of uniform and into the civilian sector.
The Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir joined us from the balcony and set a cheerful mood ahead of our main speaker, Ryan Jones who recalled stories from his long and illustrious playing career including his contribution as captain of the national side and two Lions tours, albeit one curtailed rather sooner than expected!
250 cheerful soles took the short walk across the road to the stadium where Wales managed to sneak a win against a dogged and clearly fired up Georgia side. Thankfully there were a few drinks vouchers to spare so an after match analysis session back at the Angel took place where the world was righted and Welsh Rugby put firmly on track!!
