In 1944 as part of the Normandy Campaign of World War Two, the Welsh Guards played a key part in the liberation of the village of St Charles de Percy, a village 44 kilometres south-west of Caen.
Consequently, every year on 6 June the Battalion sends a group led by a junior officer to contribute to the village’s remembrance ceremony.
