The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route is 24-miles long, and includes 5,200ft (1,585m) of ascent.
Very many congratulations to Mrs Natalie Smith for a superb fund raising effort on behalf of the Welsh Guards Charity. Natalie, whose husband is Lieutenant Colonel Tom Smith Welsh Guards, raised £595 by completing the demanding Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 23rd September. Coming in one hour under the 12 hour time limit, despite twisting a knee at the top of the final peak, Natalie's efforts really are very much appreciated by everyone at the Welsh Guards Charity.
