1st Battalion Welsh Guards has a new Commanding Officer.
On Thursday 9th September 2021 the Battalion said a final farewell to the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Henry Llewelyn-Usher who has been in command since February 2019. Following the traditional pattern for handover and alongside the intensive behind the scenes handover, as is customary, the Commanding Officer was dined out by the Sergeants Mess on Tuesday 2nd September:
and then, on Thursday 9th September with the handover complete, was towed from Barracks by members of the Officers’ Mess along a route lined by members of the Battalion.
The Battalion welcomes the new Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel John Livesey who assumes command on 10th September 2021.
